Our History
Follow the journey of Inline Process Solutions GmbH from its original research idea to an internationally active technology company.
The Roots of IPS
It all began at TU Kaiserslautern at the Chair of Separation Science and Technology (Prof. H.-J. Bart) with an attempt to determine droplet sizes in extraction columns in order to improve the modeling and design of these devices.
Pilot-Scale Application OMOP
It started with a measurement setup with two-sided access, named the Optical Multimode Online Probe (OMOP). It was tested under a wide variety of conditions. This was followed by further development for larger equipment and greater flexibility with single-sided access.
OMOP Patent Filed
A European patent was filed for the single-sided insertion of the sensor technology.
Field Trials in Industry & Research
The prototypes were continuously optimized, and field trials in both academic and industrial settings were successfully completed.
OMOP Patent Granted
European patent EP 3 067 685 B1 was granted.
Developing the Business Idea
Growing demand for the sensor technology provided the impetus to turn the initial concept into a full business plan.
EXIST Research Transfer
The business idea convinced the jury, which approved two years of funding. This is when the name for the company and product was born: Inline Process Solutions (IPS).
Company Founded
Inline Process Solutions GmbH was officially founded in August 2023.
Freedom to Operate
IPS signs assignment and license agreements with RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau.
First Deployment
First successful deployment of the sensor technology in an industrial setting.
Seed Funding
Securing seed funding to establish the business model.
Development Project
Start of development of sensor technology for bubbles and sprays in collaboration with an international industrial group.
